Can't find correct .LMR for Loan Manager after restore and update

I did an update to QB2019 that I processed.  Immediately after the update I needed to restore to a previous file copy.  Then that copy needed the update. I did a name change to the file before knowing that my Loan Manager data had not been transferred to the new file.  Somehow neither the older files when updated have the correct .LMR file populated with all my loan history.  How do I differentiate from a pre-restore version with a .LMR that will have my old data?  Using the dates doesn't seem to help and I can't find a file that is larger than the empty one.

Re: Can't find correct .LMR for Loan Manager after restore and update

Hello there, @denomo.

You can identify the loan data in the new location of the company file. I'd be glad to assist you with this.

Since you've already renamed the company file, let's retrieve and reconnect the original .lmr file. First off, we'll need to search for the original .lmr file. Here's how:

  1. Close your QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Use the Microsoft Windows Search function to find the file.
  3. In the result list, right-click the .lmr file.
  4. Select Copy.
  5. Then, paste the file to a removable disk.

Please know that the .lmr file can be found in the Misc Files folder inside the Restored_Files folder.

Secondly, rename the empty .lmr file before moving the original file.

  1. Search for the file new file, then right-click the new .lmr file.
  2. Select Rename.
  3. Change the file name to oldlmr.old.
  4. Click Yes to confirm.
  5. Hit Enter to save.

Then, identify the new location of the company file.

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Press F2 to open the Product Information window.
  3. Write down the path and file name of the company file shown in the Location section.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Close your QuickBooks Desktop.

Lastly, Copy the .lmr file to the new company file location.

  1. Place the dist that contains the copied .lmr file in the appropriate drive.
  2. Click the Start button.
  3. Select All Programs.
  4. Choose Accessories, then click Windows Explorer.
  5. Select the drive letter of the drive with the removable disk.
  6. Right-click [companyname].lmr and select Copy.
  7. Browse to the directory where the company file is currently stored.
  8. Paste the file in the blank area of the folder containing the company file.
