can't find the company file.

After 20 years using Quickbooks, my company file is missing. I've not made any changes and have no idea what to do. I'm using a 2015 version. Thank you in advance.

can't find the company file.

Thank you for checking in with us, mo2.

I'm here to help you find your missing company file in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

This normally happens if your computer is disconnected from the path where the QuickBooks file is located or your QuickBooks file has been deleted from your computer. In order to find your company file, select the appropriate setup from the following options and perform the recommended steps below:

  1. Open the company file.
  2. Click "no company open".
  3. Click the browser and search for the company file.
  4. Search for your company file.
  5. On the search box on the upper right-hand side, type in .qb2015 so that all the files related to Quickbooks will show up.
  6. Click companyname.qb2015 to open.

Please be reminded that company file should be locally saved on your computer and not in a closed based storage or an extra drive. Once drive disconnect from your computer the QuickBooks files will be unattached again to QuickBooks.
