We switched from Desktop version to Online. I know I can't do 'inventory' anymore, but I can't make any products inactive or change the name in order to make a new 'service' or non-inventory item to update pricing. Please help!

That's how Essentials treats imported inventory items from QuickBooks Desktop, awelding.
You can leave it as it is and create a new item for the services and non-inventory items you sell. Or, you can consider upgrading to the Plus version, which has an Inventory tracking feature. Aside from this feature, you can also create budgets, track income and expenses by job, track sales and profitability by location, and more. In case you want to upgrade, just follow these steps:
Click the Gear icon and choose Accounts and Settings.
Select Billing & Subscription.
On the QuickBooks Essentials tile, click Upgrade your plan.
Thank you for the reply. Is there anyway to delete the 'inventory' product now that it has been imported? I can start to make new products, but would like to delete the old product so we can use the same name. Where I can't even edit the name to add a 'z' seems unfortunate.
