Join nowIN QB2020 Premier Pro Desktop, tried to condense 107MB file. Says it will drop out 14MBfrom the file, however, when I try to run it, I keep getting Error Message 80004005. Have no idea how to proceed. Probably fifteen years of data. Is deleting entries for prior years a better alternative?
Your file may be damaged. You may have 2 options:
1. Utilize the Condense Data utility to split the data. e.g you may create a new data file as of Jan 1, 2019
2. Purchase a 3rd party condense service.
Consider using a 3rd party service to condense your file.
Use a supercondense service to condense your data file. This service is available from a number of third-party providers.
Good morning, @JamesRaleighNC! I'm happy to see you reaching out to the Community for help on this issue. There's no need to delete any transactions in your account. Since you're using the Condense File option and receiving this error, I'd first recommend trying to rebuild the data.
If the tool finds anything wrong, click on Rebuild Now. Here's the full article with more information on this process: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file. After that, attempt to condense your company file again.
The next option is to do a clean install. There are two ways of doing this and this article walks you through step by step: Clean install QuickBooks Desktop.
Please don't hesitate to reply to this post with any questions about this process. All of us here in the Community are eager to help. :)
