Desktop / QBO sync?

I'm not sure if this is so much a question, as it is a grievance that I think you should address. I use Quickbooks Desktop. I'm looking at working with a virtual bookkeeping service, and they use QBO, exclusively. She will actually provide me with a license for QBO for as long as I'm working with her, which is great. But I LIKE Desktop! I know my way around it. I find it a lot easier to do things like invoices, and taking payments. I actually find QBO to be somewhat clunky and difficult to navigate.

Now, you already have Desktop syncing with online systems. It syncs with Merchant Services, and with the bank, and the unemployment insurance service. Why can you not seem to be able to live sync it with QBO?! I'm paying for Desktop every couple of years - currently using 2020. Why would you mind if I pay for that, and you get paid for a corresponding QBO account too, so they can sync? So, when I enter a new item in Desktop, it syncs. Or a new invoice, or payment, they sync. And if the bookkeeper changes things in the back end, or pays a bill, that syncs to me? Why would you not have that functionality? Are there plans to fix it?

Desktop / QBO sync?

We appreciate your ideas, @WNets.

Let me share a little information about our programs.

QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop have their own separate platforms. There are features and functionalities that work differently, and they’re designed to operate independently.

I can see the benefits that being able to connect both programs helps your business. Not to worry, I’ll send this feedback personally to our managerial team so they could come up with the best course of action to improve QuickBooks.

For now, I recommend visiting our QuickBooks Blog and Firm of the Future to get the recent news, information about the latest features, and updates.

Desktop / QBO sync?

QB Online and QB Desktop are living in two different realms. If you prefer using QB Desktop, ask your client to migrate to QB Desktop. They may deploy a private cloud at their own premise or put the license + company file(s) on a QB cloud hosting. You will access their QuickBooks Desktop data by internet connection anytime you need.

Desktop / QBO sync?

I get that. My question was Why? Quickbooks Desktop already syncs to so many other online services. Merchant services, payroll services, insurance stuff. All of it. And we already know that there's an agent that runs on the desktop to sync stuff anyway. So why not utilize that functionality, and allow us to sync transactions between QBO and QBD? It doesn't sound like it would be that difficult to do, it would be really helpful for small business owners like me, and it would, potentially, give Quickbooks more money! Imagine my paying for QBD licenses in my offices, and then also paying for a QBO license for my bookkeeper or other team members who are remote? I've actually got clients who would go for that! Right now, some of them have me setting up VPN solutions to connect their remote systems to the network, so they can map a drive to the shared QB database file on the server. It's slow. It's clunky. But it works. But what if I didn't have to do all of that. What if, instead, I could just recommend that they sign up for a license or two of QBO, and that it would sync to the on-prem database?

I think QB is missing an opportunity here, and it just makes no sense to me.

Desktop / QBO sync?

That's all I can reasonably ask.

Thanks for the explanation.
