Does anybody else know how to search for invoices or customers with your search bar missing and apparently the search bar is no longer supported according to QuickBooks

Hello there, kriscrane77. Thank you for raising this concern.

I know how helpful the old search bar was, it was a convenient tool. Right now, the alternative is to use the filtering options available on the invoice page, such as status and date, to find what you need.

Since the search field for invoices has been removed from the invoicing page, as this feature is no longer supported by QuickBooks, it is part of the system's design to improve other features.

Feel free to leave any additional questions in the comments, and we’ll be happy to assist.

Yes, I understand. I have that option under status but in the line of work that I’m in if I have a customer that had work done let’s say eight months ago but there’s a chance that their part is still under warranty well considering I have well over thousands of created invoices the status bar doesn’t really help so what I need is to be able to type in the customers name or type in the part that they had put in and before I could go to the search bar, and it would immediately go to exactly what I was looking for that’s how we keep track cause we have all of our invoices in the system for all of our customers, and without knowing specifically, when something was done, the status bar would be useless because customers don’t ever know when they’ve had stuff done. It could’ve been six months. It could’ve been a year. It could’ve been two years so narrowing down the search is necessary by their last name or the specific part That’s in question. I need to be able to search My last name phone number part I like I said the status doesn’t do any good if I select paid OK when I have over 2000 paid invoices so that doesn’t help and we have several customers that have 50 invoices to their name so that doesn’t help, but if I was able to search like I used to be able to, I could go straight to what the customer has a question about based on their last name or the part that’s what I need help with fixing

Well, I understand that it gives you the option with status that is too broad of a selection because I could put in paid but if a customer that we did work for them a year ago and they want to know about how long ago that was and what was the item that they had done I should be able to type in the customers last name and it will pull up all the invoices that I have ever done for them status is irrelevant when I have well over 2000 or more invoices paid and narrowing down the paid invoices by date doesn’t help because some customers I’ve had for the last six years so I shouldn’t have to go through every invoice of ever created since the beginning of my business, I should be able to just type in the part in question or the customers in question and it popped right up like I used to have that is my issue and trying to find a resolution for that and from what I’ve been reading, this is an issue for several QuickBooks customers, but I have absolutely loved QuickBooks and had no issue with it until now

Hi, kriscrane77. I can see how the search bar was a really helpful feature for you, especially given the nature of your work and the volume of invoices you deal with.

QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) has been retired, so updates or enhancements made to the product will no longer be available.  I recommend using the Ctrl+F function on your keyboard while reviewing your invoices.

This shortcut helps you to search for specific terms and to pinpoint the information you’re looking for without manually scrolling through numerous pages. While I understand this workaround may not fully address all your needs, it could still help streamline the process.

You can always share your thoughts here in this thread. We’ll address them as soon as possible.
