Inventory locations for Quickbooks Online

I am a complete newbie to QB online. I just started in an office/warehouse management position for a small company and before this business grows I want to implement inventory locations. I have found numerous articles on how to  turn locations on, but I can not figure out how to add locations to the inventory itself.

Hello again, @A_Carvelli

I appreciate you taking the time to share the workaround that you employed of using pictures associated with a location. The sharing of workarounds and solutions is something that can help other users and is one of the many things that make the Community such a wonderful place.

While your company is considering a movement to QuickBooks Enterprise, I wanted to mention that you may wish to look at third-party apps. These can work to compliment QuickBooks Online (QBO) and add additional functionality. You can browse available apps at the following link: QuickBooks Apps.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or need anything. Hope you have a great day.

Thank you for choosing QuickBooks, A_Carvelli.

The option to add inventory location is only available in QuickBooks Enterprise. You'll want to check for a third-party software to add inventory location in QuickBooks Online.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Apps.
  2. Scroll down, and under Track Inventory.
  3. Select the App.

Re: Inventory locations for Quickbooks Online

Thanks, I'm still trying to convince the company that an upgrade on QB would be worth it, might not make it into the budget this year. But in the meantime, I have created a quick and dirty work around. I created 'pictures' with location names and each of our stock items now has a picture next to it that corresponds with the location. It may not print out with locations, but at least someone can quickly go online to see where it is in warehouse.
