Is there a way to save customers truck/trailer information?

We are a trailer repair company and get the same trailers / trucks over and over so I usually just save their information by trailer number as the item then vin .. etc as the description and put it under ask my accountant. Is that the only way?

You can use the Customer / Job system.

Customers are your customers - JOBS are a subsection of a customer.  Define each trailer as a "JOB" under its owner.  Then then working on that unit issue the invoice (or sales receipt) to that customer/JOB. You can then lookup history by going to the customer sales record.

Further - if you purchase any items specifically for that unit - you can enter that customer/Job tag on the bill. And if you get really advanced there is also a method of 'billing' those purchases to the customer - but you dont have to do this step.

"Items" are what you make, do sell, buy, or buy and sell. Not Vehicle. For instance, Oil Change, or New tire, or Tire Repair or "Welding" service and "noninventory parts" you bought and will charge to the customer.

Customer:Job is Owner:VIN Info.

Then the work you do, the purchases you make, and the Charges, are all assigned as Customer:Job = Owner and then VIN.

You can tell that item has Rate on it = not tracking VIN. VIN is like name and address and phone = Info, not Sales or Purchases.

Open Help and search on Work With Items.
