Can anyone please tell me how to keep my batch invoice groups alphabetized? The system rearranges the group, but I'm not sure what the parameters they are using or how to change it.
Hey there, T Carr.
Thanks for dropping by the Community space. I can help sort out why the batch invoices were not grouped alphabetically.
To make sure I’m on the same page, I need some information about the issue. Are you trying to enter invoices by batch? Did you create a Billing Group for your customers?
If so, the customers that appear on the Billing Group are based on the order of your selection. For your customers’ name to show alphabetically, delete the Billing Group and create a new one.
To set up a new group, follow the instructions in this article: Enter transactions by batch in QuickBooks Desktop. Make sure to go directly to the To enter batch invoices section.
Before doing so, I recommend creating a backup copy of the company file to keep a record of your transactions. For the detailed instructions, follow these steps:
If you're referring to something else, I appreciate any details you can provide.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great day ahead.
Thank you for your reply. I have created new billing groups and put the clients in alphabetical order. But, when I go back to the group they are now in random order. I’m wondering if there is a setting somewhere that organizes the group in a certain way. Because the group does not stay alphabetical.
You're doing it right, T Carr.
Deleting the old billing group and creating a new one should resolve the alphabetical order issue. Since you've already created a new one and it doesn't resolved the issue, let's try to run the Verify and Rebuild tool. It checks to see if this is a data damage, and resolves the issue.
As we always recommend, please make sure to back up your company file before making any changes.
Let us know about the update and we'll be right here to help.
I am having the same issue, two of my billing groups have become un-alphabetized for seemingly no reason at all. I don't see the sense in deleting it and starting over when they could potentially just go back in random order.
So my question is- deleting customers from a group is tedious when I have to scroll through a couple thousand customers not in alphabetical order. Is there an easier way to delete a customer from a group?
Glad you visit here in the QuickBooks Community, @gina32.
I'm glad to provide an information about billing group of batch invoices in QuickBooks Desktop.
Yes, you can delete a customer from a group in easy by pressing CTRL in your keyboard, then choose the name to remove. Also, you can double click the name of the customer, then it will removed.
The order of the names in the billing group appears depending on whose name was added first.
