Mileage tracker does not work consistently

The mileage tracker does not consistently work on my iPhone 8. Everything is updated and I have followed all steps to rectify this issue, but have to uninstall the app at least twice a week to get it to register trips again. Please fix this! The mileage tracker is one of the biggest reasons I use this app, if this doesn’t resolve I’m going back to my manual expense tracking booklet and save the $11.99 a month.

I want to make sure your mileage tracker will work again so you can get back up and running.


It’s good you’ve tested out some basic troubleshooting steps, such as updating the app, uninstalling and reinstalling it, and some others to rectify the issue. As long as you’ve enabled the Auto-tracking feature within the QuickBooks Self-Employed app, the program should automatically track your trips.


You’ll want to verify the settings through these steps:

  1. Open the app and sign-in.
  2. On the Mileage tab, make sure that the Auto-tracking toggle is green.

In case you haven’t checked yet, try to double-check your iPhone 8’s mobile settings. If there are incorrect setups, it can trigger the QBSE’s ability to automatically track your miles.

Mileage tracker does not work consistently

I have the same issue. In my case, if I am using my map app to navigate (i.e.: get directions to where I am heading, NOT to track miles on the map app) then these trips/miles do not get tracked on my Quickbooks Self-Employed app. I noticed this first in October, and at the time the resolution for those trips was that they were in areas where there was not good cell phone reception so they app was not picking them up. I used the map app in the city in between trips and the trips when the map app was in use did not get recorded in the mileage tracker on Quickbooks. Will this glitch get fixed?
