I need Quickbooks Pro Advisor Certification, I dont have any clients as of now but I wan to appear for the certification program, Could someone please guide me how to get started with it and how the process follows??
Absolutely, welcome to the community. We have several ProAdvisors here in the community who may be willing to share their experiences (@lynda, @ParkwayInc, @ScottMeisterCPA, @Tena_Lewey, @vpcontroller).
Have you visited the prospective ProAdvisor Portal? There are lots of resources there to help you get started. I'd love to give you more resources, can you tell us a little about your background and how you want to grow as a ProAdivsor?
I highly recommend taking the test now, don’t delay. That will help you get leads for customers. Once you pass it, go for the advanced cert too. There are a ton of valuable resources in there as well.
Here’s a link that explains some of the process for Online: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/accountants/training-certification/
Here’s a link for Desktop info: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/uk/accountants/desktop-training-certification/
Here’s a link with info about the tests: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1458802-proadvisor-certification-faqs
To over-simplify the process, you sign up, study, take the tests, pass the tests, and then are certified. Additionally, you’ll need continuing education to retain the certified/advance certified status. I’m not sure if the tests have changed since I took them, but the Advanced Certification tests were somewhat difficult. The training was great, but the structure of the test was somewhat challenging.
I created a video on taking one of the tests.
Hope this helps!
I would definately recommend the Pro Advisor Certification. I did a training course in London for mine (I am not sure where you are based?). The Intuit training team made it really engaging and fun so made the learning experience easy!
It also opens you up to a whole host of benefits including the QuickBooks Find an Accountant portal where you can obtain client reviews etc.
If you have any more questions on the pro advisor certification please do not hesitate to private message me.
I've been having technical issues reply to this discussion (I was trying to post a video for you), but here's something I posted a couple of days ago: https://qbcommunity.com/t5/Do-more-with-QuickBooks/Certified-and-Advanced-Certified-ProAdvisor-Resources/m-p/154325#M2524
Hope this helps!
Is there a cost to becoming Pro Advisor Certified? I'm new to bookkeeping. It appears as if you create a free QB account, you can then take the courses and the exam and become certified at no cost. Is that the case?
Thank you in advance for your response.
Hi there, @cgolden. Allow me to provide the answers you're looking for about the ProAdvisor and QuickBooks certification Certification.
The QuickBooks Online certification is free . This includes study materials to prepare you for the certification exam. You can find them right from the ProAdvisor tab of QuickBooks Online Accountant. If you need to support QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) clients, you'll have to sign up for QBDT ProAdvisor membership. On top of that, you'll get a free license for the bundled software of your choice.
Once done, sign to your QBOA account and follow the steps below to take the exam:
It will take 60 minutes for the exam to reflect in your profile after you've passed it. You can access your badge on the Training & certification history page. Here's how:
