QB desktop app connect to QB desktop for receipts

Downloaded the QB Desktop app on my iPhone to capture receipts. The description does not indicate a specific year of QB Desktop is required. 

However, inside the app there are only Desktop 2021 directions to connect the app to the program. How do I connect the app to the 2020 version?

Before setting up the desktop application, make sure you meet the necessary system requirements. This will ensure the application is compatible with your setup and will help avoid problems when installing it.

Once done, choose your product and version, and click the Download button on the Downloads & Updates page. Then follow the steps in this article to successfully install QuickBooks desktop: Download QuickBooks Desktop. You can also follow the direction stated in the QuickBooks Desktop 2021 on how to connect the app to the program.


Once everything is connected, you can now capture receipts in QuickBooks. For detailed steps, just click this article: Upload receipts to QuickBooks Desktop.

QB desktop app connect to QB desktop for receipts


I already have QB desktop installed and updated on my computer. I now have the app on my phone and am trying to connect them. 

The app connection directions tell me to go to the Vendor menu on my desktop version, then select Receipt Management. I do not see this option anywhere. I have tried finding it a few ways.

The Receipt Management feature is only available in the QuickBooks 2021 version, as indicated in the article that

Joesem M shared above. In your QuickBooks 2020, you can enter expenses and attach receipts to them.

  1. Open the transaction or create a check or bill.
  2. Click the Attach File button.
  3. Click Computer, then select the attachment.
  4. Click Done, then Save & Close.
