Scheduling Local backup

Hello --

If this is not the correct discussion topic for this question, please tell me where to re-post it.

I asked our accountant to begin periodic backups of the QB online file she maintains for us.  I want to store the backups on our local file system.

She said backup is not possible because the data is "in the cloud".

I do not know the online product she uses.  Is that critical in answering my question?  I chose the "...Online" label for this message so that I was able to post it.

How can we generate the backups we need?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Scheduling Local backup

Hello,

Your accountant is correct.  QuickBooks Online is a 100% web-based program.  There is no data or company file that is on your computer and there is no "native" way to make a local backup of your data and keep it somewhere.  Your company file is available from any computer that has internet connection.

If you feel you absolutely MUST have a local backup copy, you can convert your file to QuickBooks Desktop and make a backup of the desktop file.  I don't recommend doing that though as it is a drawn out process and you would have to do it each and every time you want a fresh local backup.
