I can't find a way to search the register for names or amounts that are inside split transations. Very inconvenient. Quicken had this functionality for the last two or three decades. Am I missing something? (Please don't provide answers for desktop QB unless you know they work for QBO as well -- thanks)
If it were that simple, I wouldn't be posting here for help.
Perhaps I should be clearer -- OF COURSE I can search the register for a name or amount that is inside a split transaction. Problem is, the search function WILL NOT REVEAL that amount or name, where it will reveal the same name or amount if it is in a non-split transaction. IOW, the search function will not peer inside a split. If this were some technological impossiblity, I'd accept it, but as I said, Quicken searches have revealed (what you're looking for) wherever in the register it may be hiding.
Okay, let's say I deposit three checks. I put them together in a split transaction so that when the bank uploads the group deposit I will have a match (otherwise I have to enter each check separately and deposit them all separately so the bank doesn't create a single number representing all three checks). In that split is a check from John Jones. A month later, John Jones calls and asks me if he paid his bill, he can't find his check stub. I say, "Just a minute, John, I'll see if your check went through Quickbooks Online." I do an "advanced" search for his name but there is no result because QBO can't (or won't) look inside that split to see that John Jones's name is there and, yes, his payment was made."
Thanks for any help you can provide.
I am so glad. Sometimes it is just a minor thing/change you have to do . Have a great week, Jim!
Okay, I figured it out. I was doing the search wrong. Sorry to have troubled you.
