Selecting templates to appear in print drop down?

Is it possible to change the templates in the drop down of the print menu above invoices? We don't ever use the Shipping Label, but we would love to have a customer Load Slip in there.

Selecting templates to appear in print drop down?

Let me help you be able to change your invoice template successfully, randi84.

In QuickBooks Desktop, you can make a default template by selecting the desired template and make sure to select invoice.  Also, You can utilize the Layout Designer option to make your own template. But before doing so, you'll need to check the available details that can be included in the template.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Lists menu.
  2. Choose Templates.
  3. On the page, click the drop-down button beside Templates.
  4. Select New, then choose the Template Type.
  5. Hit OK.
  6. Then to check the available details, click Additional Customization.
  7. Click Layout Designer.
  8. On the Layout Designer - Customer Estimate page, you can create your own template manually.
  9. Once done, hit OK to save the template.

I've got you an article for your reference: Use and Customize Form Templates.

In addition, you might encounter some issues when using a customized template. For your reference, check this out on how to fix this: Fix common issues when you use and customize templates.

Selecting templates to appear in print drop down?

Thank you for the information, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. We have edited and use our Default Invoice template. That's one we need to keep. We also use the Packing Slip regularly. What I'd like is to be able to get another template option to show under the drop down menu for our another Custom Template (that we use as load slips).

Selecting templates to appear in print drop down?

I appreciate you for getting back, Randi. I'm stepping into the thread to share with you some additional information about picking form templates when creating invoices in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

When recording your invoices, you can choose the template you want to use from the Template dropdown. Getting another template option or changing the template in the dropdown of the Print menu isn't possible for now. The good news is, our engineers are working nonstop to enhance the product and deliver the best experiences to all QuickBooks users. For now, you can use the feedback feature to send this idea directly to our engineering team. This way, they could take action to help improve your experience.

Here's how you can send feedback through QuickBooks:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) file.
  2. Go to the Help menu, then Send Feedback Online.
  3. Tap on Product Suggestion.
  4. Enter your feedback or suggestions.
  5. Hit the Send Feedback button.

Once done, your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development Team to help improve your QuickBooks experience.

For more tips while modifying and tracking your invoices in QBDT, you can check out these articles:

Additionally, you can get more resources while handling your other customer entries in the future from these links:

You can't modify the entries on the print drop-down list.

I'm not sure what a "load slip" is, or if it is different than a "packing slip", but you can choose the template the will print when you pick Packing slip from the Print drop down.  To so this, go to Edit | Preference | Sales & Customers | Company Preferences  and then change the template for the option "Choose template for invoice packing slip"

Selecting templates to appear in print drop down?

Hi @Sam12324. Thank you for joining the thread.

I can help you find the templates or customized forms in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

From the List page in QBO, the template is named Custom Form Styles. From there, you can create templates for your sales forms or choose a template to set as default. Please take a look at the snippet below:

Alternatively, you can click the Gear icon and then choose Custom form styles.

In addition, you can reference this article to learn more: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts. This resource has steps and video which elaborates ways to utilize the feature efficiently.

Feel free to comment below if you need more help with system navigation. I'm always here to lend a hand. Stay safe and well!
