Set up multi-user network

I want to be able to access my quick books from my laptop

Set up multi-user network

Hello Jehehr,

The multi-user mode enables more than one person to work on a company file. Our standard license agreement requires separate QuickBooks licenses for each person who'll use the software.

However, you only need one license if you're the only person using it. Your QuickBooks Desktop can be install on both desktop PC and laptop. Please follow this article on how to download and install QuickBooks: Download QuickBooks Desktop.

To get an additional license for the same version, please click on the Help menu and choose Manage My License. You can also purchase the 2019 version via this link: Once you have a new license, install the software and register it. Then, click on this link on how to set up multi-user network

Set up multi-user network

Why does my computer keep losing the host computer on multiuser? For the last month had to change login password and now when I log on there is no path even. This has been a problem ever since I got 2018 and then bought 2019 Quick Books and now it is worse. Does anyone know how to work on this to stop the problem? QB support would get it working and a week later same problem! Not sure where to go for help for someone who can fix this right! So sad as I have had QB for years and now a flawed program that dumps me out of Multiuser all the time.   Contact me at [email address removed]  if you can help me on this headache?

Set up multi-user network

This must have been frustrating, Argo.

If the error persists after running some troubleshooting steps provided by our QuickBooks Support Team, there could be a network connectivity issue. You can check with your IT personnel if the QuickBooks Mutli-user mode sets up correctly.

Furthermore, here are some quick tips that can sort out hosting issue:

  • Restart Database Server Manager
  • Move the file to a different folder
  • Set Power saving option to never

We also have more solutions for hosting errors that you can check. Please check them out: Error message Connection Has Been Lost
