I really wish QuickBooks was more open to suggestions from us user's. Especially on ways to improve the software. Other software companies welcome suggestions with open arms. It would be very helpful to be able to copy a list of skews and be able to paste that into an open estimate. As the skews get pasted in one fell swoop the items would populate on the estimate. I work in a construction related field and my cad software is able to genrate a list of steel panel and trim items. My macros create the skews we use in quickbooks as well as descriptions, quantities, cost and mark-up. I can convert that info to text that I can copy and paste into Excel or pehaps other programs.

Hi @lvoorheis86 - welcome to QB Community! We're always open to feedback. If you're using QuickBooks Online you're welcome to submit your suggested feature here, or see if others have requested the same functionality and "upvote" their recommendation. If not specifically for QBO, your feedback can be submitted here.
In the meantime, do any of our members have any workarounds they might suggest?
It sounds like what your requiring from QuickBooks is quite industry specific. I would recommend that you take a look in the QuickBooks App store to see if there is any applications that you can integrate into the system. I have done a quick search here for you: https://apps.intuit.com/ui/#/searchresults?query=estimates&qbo=false.
Welcome to the community. This is a space where you can give those recommendations!
One of our product managers who works on forms, @dlu, actually comes onto the community to read and respond to comments. I can forward this to him.
In your mind, what would be the absolute ideal state of estimate forms?
Part of the innovation and to make your experience better, we're closing the suggestion board and use the Community space.
You can always share your ideas and find answers from other QuickBooks users in the Community.
Please post your question by going to: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community.
Feel free to hit the Reply button below if you need help with anything else.
The link to the "suggestions" forum is closed butttt here is mine:
An effective solution for helping people new to quickbooks, or rolling out new features and may save call center and help time is to enable and link various functions so that when you "right click" on a certain function or parameter or option it will be linked to a pop up of either a video or article or instructions on how to use the function, the benefits or draw backs of it or how it's linked to other options, etc etc...this function was available in another program and it was incredibly helpful, a time saver both for the customer and probably for your call center/help desk.
Thanks for your time!
I appreciate you reaching out to the Community and sharing your ideas.
I can see how this feature would be beneficial to your business.
We always want to implement the suggestion of our customers. Though our Feedback Board has been closed, I can pass it along here on my end.
For the time being, you can visit our blog and register to our Newsletter. This way, you’ll receive email updates about what new changes and features, and hopefully your suggestion would be one of them.
If there are any features that you’d like to learn more about QuickBooks Online, I’d recommend checking out this Community article: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Help-articles/ct-p/help-articles-us?label=QuickBooks%20Onlin....
If there’s anything else I can do for you concerning your QuickBooks Online account, don’t hesitate to reach out again. I’d be glad to help. More powers to you and to your business!
Why then are we told to use the "feedback" option... go through that process, and end up here?
The "feedback" should just say "redirecting to the community" or something similar, rather than the "experience" of having felt time was wasted in one "entry point" only to (ultimately) be redirected (anyway) to a completely differn entry point -- and, by the way the time/energy spent in the first entry point isn't even saved, and needs to be reentered AGAIN! bunch of wasted gyrations = "experience" of wasted time!
Having a QBO account as a benefit for "our own books" is fine, but would really be great if there was access to a QBO account within the company for training purposes.
The "sample" files don't allow saving of transactions from instance to instance -- each "sample" opened is as it was before, so it's impossible to modeling transactions for "associates".
Some of the parameters of this "training file":
- "belongs" to the "master" login -- cannot be exported/duplicated out of the master login/assigned associates.
- "hard" named (eg. Training Only)
- acts as "separate client" only associates given access can "see" it"
- version selectable (eg. Basic, Premier, etc) by master for each team member
- shows/restricts transactions to version
This would allow team members to see/train per "owner" specifics
