I just got an email that tags are being removed from QuickBooks online, how does everyone feel about this?
I personally find lots of uses for tags and don't understand why QuickBooks would completely remove, I'm not too fond of the idea of having it set up like "Locations" and "Classes". As a bookkeeper it is a convenient discreet way to mark transactions so I can pull reports later. I like the different colors.
Example: I have a tag group "accounting" with options such as "Needs Further Review", "Missing Information", "Confirmed with Owner". I also use for client specific tags that is makes more sense as a discreet tag.
Honestly, this makes me wonder about Intuit QuickBooks abilities to create good software when you remove something as basic as tags, it makes me wonder if maybe the software engineer just forgot to include in the next update and that's the real reason. Sounds like incompetence when I know for a fact that QuickBooks is trying to create additional features to charge their subscribers for. Many of my clients are asking for an alternative now because they just find QuickBooks to unfriendly for a small business owner to use and too easy for their sales team to make costly mistakes in that requires a QuickBooks cleanup.
I can see how the tags feature benefits you in handling your business in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @KimAnnVA. I'll clarify things about this below.
We have not received any updates regarding the removal of the tags feature in QBO. Therefore, you should still be able to utilize this feature. However, please note that we cannot guarantee its continued availability in the future, as you have already received an email about this.

I couldn't agree with you more on all points. I am furious over this money grab. I am exploring different software, as well. Clients are not happy and neither am I, Intuit.
Your response is 100% completely useless and not at all helpful in anyway.

- Who is this "We" you speak of? Last we heard they are being cut off come March 8th. How about updating US, the paying clients if something has changed with the plan to remove tags?

- What does this have to do with anything regarding tags? We are bookkeepers and don't need to be told how to post an expense or reconcile a bank account. Just why?

- Another money grab.
I have clients who currently pay for the Simple Start subscription and what Intuit is proposing is forcing them to jump to the Advanced option. The increased price is unacceptable for many.
Thank you, I just got another email that tags are no longer supported starting March 8, 2005.
Dear Intuit, please remove the QuickBooks team members ability to respond to the Community if they do not know what they are talking about. We asking in the community know more than the majority of your QuickBooks team members, this is also the same for calling customer support, always a waste of time.
