Join nowWe are a construction company looking to utilize QB Enterprise for tracking tool and equipment location and usage by hour/day. For example, a floor scrubber is used for 2 days on a remodel job. How can we easily track that usage and allocate those costs to the job accurately. We were hoping to utilize bar code scanning through Enterprise to check in/out the tools/equipment. We are just starting to implement inventory tracking practices and haven't been able to find an answer for this situation.

Hi adw4538,
I also like the idea of tracking tools and equipment, but currently, it’s not a feature in QuickBooks Enterprise. I suggest finding a third-party app that can do the tracking in QuickBooks.
I'm sure many users will also like the said feature. Feel free to submit a product suggestion, so that our engineers can consider adding it in future updates.

Hilti OnTrack is a solution for checking equipment in and out of jobs, transferring to different jobs with a person responsible for the tool/equipment, and it also covers consumables. However, it doesn't do anything for billing time if billing per hour or per use. It's about $200 monthly and is quite useful, especially with RFID and Bluetooth tracking, so you know where your assets are when near readers that can go on jobs, in trailers, in the crib, etc.
For billing per hour or day for equipment, you can assign them as a person in your time-keeping software and have the foreman clock them in and out for the day.
Hard to accept this thread as "solved" if the solution is "place your idea in the suggestion box and never hear from anyone again."
Does anyone have a solution/workaround you've implemented or can be used TODAY as an ACTUAL solution?
Bueller, bueller....Bueller...?
It seems like this has yet to be solved. Anyone have an actual solution you are using NOW that might be helpful?
Thanks for joining the thread,@Rbailie.
