Join nowI have a small client that sells art. Originally I was going to set up her income accounts like this:
Income
Retail
Daily Sales
Exhibit Income
Hickem Fair
Kapiolani Fair
Kiosk
Etc.
Graphic Arts
Painting Classes
Private lessons
Retreats/Cruises
Web page Income
Wholesale
Treasure Island
Etc.
But I just realized that we don't have the ability to use location or class with QB online.
So I am looking for a work around.
I am wondering if I can set up daily sales and the exhibits as customers and the same with the wholesale clients. Would this work? She does not invoice but brings everything in on receipts. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Hello, iilovelotty.
We can set up Daily Sales and Exhibits as customers and sub-customers.

Hi there, @ilovelotty,
Thanks for letting me know that your client is using QuickBooks Online (QBO) Simple Start.
Using class and location tracking to categorize your income and expenses is only available in the Plus version of QBO. For more information, here's a great article you can refer to: Set up and Use Class and Location Tracking.
You might want to check the features of each version and their prices through these links:
If you find the other versions greater benefits, I'd suggest upgrading your QBO subscription. By doing so, you'll get more features to fit your business needs. It also helps you run your business smoothly.
I'm here anytime you have other concerns, @ilovelotty. Wishing you and your business continued success while using QBO.

Hello ilovelotty,
Just two cents to remind that you can perfectly use either class or location or both within the Sales Receipts and track that by the means of reports.
Sorry for not being clear. My client only has simple start not the full QB online.

Thanks so much. I did finally figure that out. Because she has a very simple accounting system there are many things in the next levels that she would not make use of. So I am going to try a work around to see how that works.
Thanks for getting back to us, @ilovelotty.
I appreciate you figuring out the main reason your client has no class and location tracking option.
You can also stay in touch with me how it goes after performing the workaround, @ilovelotty. I'll be around to help. Cheers!
