Unrecoverable Error - Quickbooks Enterprise 2018

Getting unrecoverable error when download and apply payroll updates. Was able to do 1 month ago with no problem. I was on phone with support for 5 hours and have gotten nowhere. We reinstalled enterprise desktop, rebuild data files, downloaded and run QB diagnostic tool. they then send me support document that says make sure windows updates(10) was current. I also manually repaired .net files and reinstalled C++. AT this point they have no suggestions except to get another internet connection.

Does anyone have any suggestions what this error could be caused by

Thanks for sharing the steps you’ve tried, Merri6.

I have a few more we can try to fix the error so you can download the latest payroll tax table.

It’s possible that the QuickBooks File Copy Service (FCS) is causing this error. You’ll want to disable FCS.

Here’s how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Right-click the My Computer icon (either on the desktop or on the Start menu) and choose Manage.
  3. In the left pane of the Computer Management window, click the Services and Applications icon.
  4. In the right pane of the Computer Management window, double-click the Services item. All services on this computer are displayed.
  5. Locate Intuit QuickBooks FCS on the list.
  6. Right-click the Intuit QuickBooks FCS and choose Properties.
  7. Click the General tab. Change the Startup Type field to Disabled.
  8. To save these changes, click OK.
  9. Restart the computer.
  10. Open QuickBooks.

Lastly, try updating the payroll tax table.

Following those steps should allow you download the payroll tax table. However, If you encounter any issues, please let me know. I'll get back here to help you again.

Unrecoverable Error - Quickbooks Enterprise 2018

I found another problem after I published this . I discovered when I ran my 941 for the quarter that I am missing most of my payroll for the month of July. In trying to figure what was up I went in to edit paychecks so I could view data. I discovered almost all of the records did not have an employee assigned to it. It seems that may be the problem. I am not sure when that data was corrupted but I am speculating that it may have occurred when we reconciled the payroll account a few week back. I am going to check in the morning to see if in prior backup the data is ok. Does this sound feasible? And do you know of anything like this ?I appreciate any input

Yes, you can try reviewing the prior backup file, Merri6.

In addition to PreciousB's answer, we can create a separate backup file. Then, we can proceed in fixing any data issues. You can follow the steps in this article to do the verify/rebuild process: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

We'll be right here to help you get through with this.
