You can send another invitation to the contractor again, Vlo.
When you do this, your contractor will be able to edit their personal details for their 1099 and view the form.
If you don't see the option to resend the invite, it could be that the details of the contractor have been completed. Follow steps 1 to 6 in the Send an invite to existing contractors article, to make the Send a reminder link available again.
Feel free to leave a reply if you need any further assistance. Thanks.
I have a contractor who cannot see her 1099. Message says "link expired." So I found this topic and followed all the steps. Removed her tax id #. All it now says is:
1) It doesn't say when it was sent 2) Contractor has received nothing (yes, she checked her spam folder) and 3) as you can see, I do not get the option to resend the invitation as promised in the instructions.
Why is this so difficult?? I really just want the simple ability to resend the 1099 link - live!!
Thank you for joining the thread, csturner.
Let's perform some browser troubleshooting steps and get the option to resend the invitation to your contractor.
Let's log out and log back in using a private browsing or incognito window. Depending on your browser, here's how:
If this works, it means that you need to clear your browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If private/incognito browsing doesn't work, let's try using a different browser, then re-sending the invitation.
In case you still get the same result, I encourage contacting our QuickBooks Customer Care. This way, they can investigate further why you can’t resend the invitation.
Don't hesitate to leave a comment below if you have any other questions.
I have the same issue. I need to send out the link again to a 1099 contractor. When I navigate to the Workers > Contractors page I am not seeing the 'Send Reminder' icon/button, only the 'Write a Check' menu?
Please help thank you,
Let's edit your contractor's profile and get the reminded resent. Let me guide you how.
There will be no option to send a reminder if the contractors’ Personal details have been set up completely.
To edit your contractor’s profile, please follow these steps:
After clicking the send a reminder option, your contractor will receive an email invitation link.
Here’s an article you can read for your reference: Invite a Contractor.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. I’ll be around to help.
I have the same issue and find these steps/advice cumbersome and difficult. There should be a simple button -- re-send 1099. And/or there should be a link in what is emailed to the contractors that works, i.e. link to a page to obtain their 1099 or if too much time has passed then a page that let's them request a replacement. In my case, the contractor (and I) are worried about double-reporting his income.
I can truly see the value of having a seamless 1099 re-send option.
While I'll pass this along here on my end, I recommend considering the current flow we have which was discussed by my colleague, @Mark_R, in his most recent response.
Also, if you haven't already, you can read this article for more details: Invite a Contractor to Add Their Own 1099 Tax Info.

We have the same issue here. Contractor has already been sent the reminder, she has created her own account and updated her W9 info, but cannot see or access a copy of her 1099 in that new account. How do we re-create or re-send her a 1099?
Hello there, @vivienneaz.
Thank you for joining the Community. Allow me to chime in and help share some ways to ensure your contractor will be able to see the 1099 form in their QuickBooks Self-Employed account.
Since your contractor already accepted the invite and created a new account, let's make sure they log in to the correct QBSE account: https://selfemployed.intuit.com/login#/contractor/clients.
After that, please refer to the steps below to view or print the 1099 form copy.
If they get the same result, here are a few basic troubleshooting steps that you can give a try:
Attempt using an incognito window. Please follow the keyboard shortcuts below to open a private browser:
If this works fine with the private window, please try clearing your browser's cache and start logging in QuickBooks from there. Clearing the cache allows your browser to function more efficiently.
For additional help, you can reach out to our Customer Support. They have the tools to determine what's causing the issue and help you get back to business in no time.
That should point you in the right direction today. Please let me know how this works. I'll be happy to help you further or if you have any other questions about QuickBooks. Have a great day ahead.
I'm having the same problem, so I followed the steps outlined above. But when I try to remove the SSN, and then save, it won't allow me to save. It keeps demanding that I enter the SSN!
Why is this so complicated? I paid Intuit to do my 1099s through QBO, and now I can't even access them.
Allow me to step in for a moment, share a little more information about the SSN of your 1099s.
QuickBooks doesn't allow you to save your 1099s with blank SSN for your contractors. Thus said, you have the option to enter all zero digits in the SSN field.
However, if you still can't save it, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Support. They have the tools needed to pull up and look into your account such as screen sharing and help you save your 1099s. Here's how:
Please let me know if you have any other questions about QuickBooks Online. I'll be always around here in the Community to lend a helping hand.
This is an epic fail on Intuit's part. I am a contractor and when I went to do my taxes this year- ALL OF MY 1099 LINKS were expired. ALL OF THEM!
Bad product design.
So I have had to track then all down again. LOTS OF work and I may miss the deadline.
shame on you Intuit!
This isn't the kind of service we want you to experience. And I personally want you to get access to your 1099 links by resending an invitation again.
I understand that you've already followed the steps provided above. But please know that those steps apply to your employer and his/her QBO account. If you haven't already, I recommend contacting your employer. This way, he/she can troubleshoot your contractor profile and resend your 1099 invitation link.
You can email this article to your employer if in any case he/she needs a guide on how to complete this task: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Employees-and-payroll-taxes/Invite-a-contractor-to-add-their...
I hope you can still extend your patience with us.
I'll send feedback about this so our engineers will take a look at it and check this further. At this time, you can follow the steps provided above to resend another invitation and your contractor will receive a new email about the invitation.

Yes! This year, I'm going to do my 1099s by hand, so as to avoid the disaster I encountered last year. I spent nearly 2 hours on the phone with QBO support without resolving the problem. Not to mention the onhold time I spent being sent to someone who didn't know QBO, even though I specified that was what I needed help with.
Such a length of time could be converted to focusing on your business, LNewman. I may not have the same experience as yours, but I can see how impacting this is for your business.
We will help you fix any issues with 1099. Feel free to send a brief summary or the detailed information by adding a comment below.
The most common issues are missing 1099 contractors on 1099 reports. We've listed the common scenarios in the 1099 Troubleshooting article. Which one are you encountering right now?
Rest assured that we'll help you here in the Community space.
I have followed the steps where I have deleted one of my contractor's SS# and she was sent an invitation link to set-up her W-9. Once she did that there was nowhere in her Intuit account where she could access her 1099. Where are the contractors downloading a PDF in their Intuit accounts?
This procedure is counter-productive because when a new contractor comes on board we have to manually put in there personal information in QuickBooks. The contractor should not have to open an account and put in their W-9 information again to be able to view and download a PDF of their 1099. I feel that this current system is strictly for Intuit to solicit new customers instead of aiding current customers and their contractors.
I would appreciate a reply as soon as possible.
Hello there, @DebraD.
Let provide some information about 1099 in QuickBooks.
In QuickBooks, you'll be the one the send an invitation to your vendors to complete their profile so they can view the form online. The details they entered when setting up their account will automatically reflect into your QuickBooks Online account. Once you submit 1099 to IRS, they'll receive another email to notify them that they can view the form already through their account.
That means you have to create a QuickBooks Self-Employed account if you are the vendor. This is how QuickBooks works so it'll be convenient for you to review your 1099 form. It will be sent to a different email if your employer used a different one. That is the reason why it asks you to create a new account since QuickBooks unable to recognize the email being used.
You can read this guide about 1099s in QuickBooks Self-Employed. This will give you more details on how to access your W-9 info and 1099 form.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. I’ll be around to help.
Thanks for joining the thread, @jlclayton09.
The option to "send a reminder" should be listed to the right of the contractor's name when you view them through the Workers tab. There will be a blue hyperlink to click under the small picture of an envelope with the message: we've requested personal details from (contractors email). The screenshot below will show you an example.
Please let me know if this gets you back to business. I'll keep an eye out for your response.
Good evening, @maryjeaninman.
I hope your day is going well.
Thanks for providing the screenshot for us. Since you do not see the send a reminder link, I recommend clear the cache from your web browser. Web browsers collect cache (cookies) to save you time when loading repetitive data and images, which can cause similar issues such as not seeing the Send a reminder link. Below I've included the steps on how to clear the cache (depending on your browser):
You can also try this in an incognito or private window. Here's how you can open one:
