2017 940 tax payment will not go away

Q4 2017 940 tax issue

Have already paid Q4 2017 taxes via QuickBooks, however, Dashboard shows Q4 2017 940 payment due, when I click on the “Pay now” link Quickbooks just spins, and a blank screen comes back.

From the Taxes | Payroll Tax menu, it also shows a Q4 2017 940 payment is due (which is a penny higher than the 940 form Quickbooks created for 2017), however we have already paid the tax for the correct amount (received confirmation from Quickbooks via email and also it shows in the transaction history log).  Also, the IRS indicates it has received payment.

Is there a way to get Quickbooks to recognize that the payment has already been generated and get rid of the 2017 940 entry that keeps coming up?

I have had the same issue. I worked with a Support tech and she told me that it's all resolved but I have never gotten confirmation of the e-payment. I am skeptical that it has been completed. The payment date is listed as 1/31/2018 in my tax payments list but the IRS requires that it be submitted by 1/29.

How do you know that the payment has been received by the IRS? QuickBooks shows it in the register but the IRS doesn't have it documented. The IRS shows receipt of the 941 payment but not the 940.

I have the same problem. I was able to confirm the payment to the IRS by verifying that the payment has cleared our bank account. This is a very annoying prompt to see on the dashboard everyday. It causes me anxiety that something is past due until I realize it's a payment I've already made.

I called support. The first call ended in a promise that the issue was cured and I would receive and a notification to that effect but none came. The support person the the second call walked me through everything he was doing and sent me proof that the transaction was completed. I then received the normal notification from QuickBooks the next day.

Thank you for requesting updates on Created 940 tax payments and reminder is still showing due. We’ve identified additional steps for you to try. We’re continuing to work on solving for this unexpected behavior and our next update is currently scheduled for Wed Mar 07 02:00:00 GMT 2018.

In order for you to make sure you can complete your work; we would advise you to follow these steps:

Hitting Create Payment a second time gives the message "We have calculated the exact amount due for Federal Unemployment (940) for the period 01/01/2017-12/31/2017 and found that you do not owe taxes. Your tax liability for the period has been adjusted accordingly."  It also removes the 940 from showing due under pay taxes.

[Note from me: the last step does not solve the problem.  I hope the March 7th update will.]

After following the steps received this message when clicking "create payment" the first time:

"No taxes due this period
We calculated the amount due for this period and found that you don't owe any taxes. We adjusted your tax liability accordingly."

Then, clicked "create payment" a second time the same message came up.  However the 940 entry under taxes due was not removed.  

So, problem still not solved - will continue to wait for the next update scheduled for 04/07/18.

nathali, your taxes are probably paid.  The real problem is that the reminder doesn't go away, giving all of us a mild heart attack when we think we are late on a payment to the IRS!  
It has not been fixed by the April 7, 2018, release.
