2018 Employee Tax Withholding

Hi Greenline,

The amount of federal income tax withheld from the employees' paychecks depends on the following:

  • Filing status - If they are Single or Married.
  • Gross pay - Their gross wage for the pay period is too low.
  • Pay frequency - If they are paid Weekly, Bi-Weekly, or Monthly.
  • Withholding allowances - They are claiming a high number of dependents.

Here's an article for more details about the income tax: Payroll 101

You can also check the IRS Publication 15, Circular E, Employer's Tax Guide and turn to page 44 under How To Use the Income Tax Withholding Tables.

If there's anything else you need help with QuickBooks, please let me know. Thanks.
