Join nowHi there, mbleeper.
I'll help you in finding your tax payment.
Normally, that transaction should appear in your bank register since it's showing as paid on the Tax payment history page. To isolate the issue, let's make sure that the filters in your bank register are set to All. I'll show you how:
Alternatively, you can open the tax payment from the Tax payment history page to check if it was posted to the correct bank account.
Do you need to track your employee expenses and payroll liabilities in QuickBooks Online? You can run payroll reports.
Please feel welcome to visit this thread again with any concerns you may have. I'll be right here to continue helping.
Hi mbleeper,
Hope you’re doing great. I wanted to see how everything is going about the missing tax payment issue you had yesterday. Was it resolved? Do you need any additional help or clarification? If you do, just let me know. I’d be happy to help you at anytime.
Looking forward to your reply. Have a pleasant day ahead!
I have the same issue. The tax liability shows paid and the date marked as paid, but I cannot drill down to see what account if is posting to. I have checked both bank accounts and even tried the search function. I am unable to reconcile unless I can find these transactions. Appreciate your help!
Thanks for joining the thread and letting us know that you're having the same issue, MD569.
We can check your payroll settings to verify the bank account used when making an e-payment for your payroll taxes. Here's how:
Once verified, check your bank statement if the tax amount paid has posted. If yes, then we can do a manual update to your bank account connected to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) to download entries from your bank. Here's what you'll need to do:
To learn more about the process, take a look at this article: What to do if you see a bank error or bank transactions won’t download.
If it's not yet posted to your bank account, that's the reason why it's not showing in your QBO bank account. Keep in mind that QBO is a read-only app. Thus, it will bring in data based on the transactions posted into your bank account.
To know when the funds are withdrawn from your bank account when making an e-payment check out this link: Check e-filing or e-payment status.
Once bank transactions downloads, you can now start categorizing or matching them to straighten out your books. After that, you have the option to do your regular bank reconciliation.
If you have additional assistance while managing your bank transactions, let me know. I'll be around to provide further assistance. Have a nice day.
I am having the same issue. I edited a prior tax payment. It shows in the Tax Payment History. Correct date, correct bank.
It does not show in the Bank Reconciliation and cannot find it doing a search for that amount.
The bank is not linked to QBO. Entries are done manually.
Hi glorijd58,
Thank you for making sure that you have the correct bank account. However, you haven't mentioned if the transaction shows up in your bank register. Please check to see if it's there and see also if it has an R mark. This means it's reconciled, so it won't show up on the reconciliation page anymore.
If the transaction is not showing as reconciled, clear the Date filter on the reconciliation page to show all unreconciled transactions beyond the ending date.
Feel free to share an update after checking the transaction.
I am having the same issue. My state payroll tax was marked paid but doesn't show up on my bank register. But it does show up as a payroll tax that was correctly paid. I can't find it on the banker register at all! Very frustrating because now I cannot reconcile my bank account.
I tried the suggested solutions on this thread since the original post is similar to my issue. However, it's still not allowing me to reconcile my account.
In the bank register, the tax payment is recorded posting on 9/1/2021. In my bank statement, same payment cleared on 8/31/2021. Just so happens that the cut off (ending date for statement) is 8/31/2021. So in reconciling said account, the tax payment does not show and I cannot reconcile. In the past, I was able to edit in the bank register if there are any transactions not recorded, and even those that are recorded but do not have same posted dates. I cannot do that now for some reason.
What is the best solution for this so I can finally reconcile the account for that period? In the register the tax payment transaction does not have the "R" designation; it has "C" which means partially reconciled.
I was having the same issue, but I found the payment under Taxes > Payroll Tax > Record tax payments. Somehow, by marking it as paid, the entry was recorded as a tax payment made outside of QuickBooks. I think that hitting the Mark as Paid button will NOT post the transaction, therefore it will not affect the bank register. I was able to delete the payment (Edit > Delete). My Upcoming Tax Payments list then showed the item as Overdue. I hit the Pay button (instead of Mark as Paid) and changed the payment date. This solved my problem and I was able to see the payment in the bank reconciliation. Note: I use the manual payment method for taxes.
I have the same problem.
When I followed the recommended steps I got stalled on the e-file and e-pay link tab. I could not find this tab.
Hoping in this thread to assist you, Paul.
I appreciate you for following the steps provided by my colleague to see the tax payment executed within your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company.
In this, we can verify the payment first to see if it has been successfully posted to your account. Here’s how:
Additionally, I attached this article for more details when accessing payroll tax forms and tax payments.
If it’s visible, you’ll also want to double-check if you connected the correct bank account for the e-pay or e-file services to be deducted from. To do that, you can follow these steps:
