941 Report

I am needing to prepare a zero 941 report for the 2nd quarter for a employer that has not actually had any payroll in 2020 to date.  I have never had a problem doing this in the past, but now however, I get a message stating "No employees have been paid in the given year" when I enter my date and QB will not continue into the Form 941.  Is this a known problem? How can I generate a Form 941 for a company with zero wages?

Yes, someone unfamiliar with payroll filing rules thought this was a good idea and decided to save you from yourself by stopping you from filing when you don't have any payroll.  Which makes logical sense when you don't know the rules and (it seems) don't care to find out what they are.

 

While this has been reported here for over a month Intuit still hasn't fixed it, even though they could have.

 

The workaround support if offering is to create and then void a paycheck.  Then the form will run.  Somehow that makes it OK :|
