Accessing 2019 Payroll Information

I was a desktop payroll user in 2019. I no longer use Quickbooks for payroll. In addition, the computer I used then "blew up" and was replaced.

I need to get copies of my payroll information and all tax filings for that year. How can I access/request these records?

Thanks for the help!

Accessing 2019 Payroll Information

I'm here to help you recover your payroll information, Lillyrocket.

Generally, you can use the backup company file to restore your data with our QuickBooks Desktop trial versin if your computer was crashed. To restore, you can follow the steps below:

  1. In QuickBooks, go to the File menu and select Open or Restore Company.
  2. Select Restore a backup copy and then Next.
  3. Select Local Backup and then Next.
  4. Browse your computer for your backup company file. It should look like this: [Your company name].qbb.
  5. Select a folder to decide where to save your restored company file. Then select Open.

To avoid overwriting anything, you can rename your existing company file or the backup so the names are unique. Or you can save the backup in a completely separate folder.

  6. When you're ready, select Save. If you see any messages about possibly overwriting your data, select the option that best fits your needs. Don't overwrite anything unless you know you want to.

Once done, you'll be able to use the information for your tax filings. Please check this article for more information: Restore A BackUp Of Your Company File. Furthermore, if you're using QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP), you can utilize some of our payroll reports to view useful data about your business and employees. I've added this article for your reference: Run Payroll Reports

Accessing 2019 Payroll Information

Thanks for your response. The problem is that as per step 4, the back up file is on a computer that was destroys and I cannot access the data from it.

Are there any other options?

Thanks,

Accessing 2019 Payroll Information

Hi Mitch,

Sorry to hear about your computer and your company file records.

The files for QuickBooks Desktop (payroll or non-payroll) can only be accessed on the computer where the software was installed. We don't save copies in the system.

If you used direct deposit, you may try accessing your Workforce account to see some paycheck information, but I wouldn't guarantee that you can see one. I'm unable to access your account from here either since this is a public forum.

You can always go back to this thread if you have other questions.

Accessing 2019 Payroll Information

Hi All,

I have recovered my data and when trying to access old payroll tax filings I forget my password.

I have filled out the "change in Payroll Pin Request" form but am finding it impossible to "contact intuit payroll support" as requested.

Any help is appreciated!

Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.

  4. Enter your concern, then tap Continue.
  5. Click Get a callback.
