Anyone else have year end bonus go on 2022 instead of 2021?

I've got your back, @kym6.

You'll want to make sure that the pay date of the bonus check is under the year 2021. This way, it'll be included in your 2021 year-end payroll tax forms. Since the bonus check goes on 2022, we'll need to delete the bonus check and recreate it with the correct pay date. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Click Payroll from the left menu, then select Employees.
  3. Select the Paycheck list link under Run payroll.
  4. Choose the correct date range, then select the bonus check you want to delete.
  5. Click the Delete button.
  6. Mark the box for I understand that this action cannot be undone.
  7. Select Delete paycheck.
  8. Then, recreate the bonus check.

Please know you can continue to reach me here with any additional questions about running bonus checks. Wishing you all the best, @kym6.

Thanks for your help.  I did all of that but it says with a pay date of 12/31/2021 late payroll tax payment penalty may apply and it won't let me do it.

Message I get:

Tax penalties may apply

You’ve picked a pay date that may cause you to make a late tax payment and incur a penalty. Try choosing a date closer to today’s date.

Appreciate the update, @kym6.

Since you're still unable to post the bonus check even after entering the pay date accordingly, I recommend contacting our Payroll Care Team. One of our specialists online has the tool to help enter the bonus check. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select Search
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Enter a few words describing how the system is not letting you record the bonus check the What can we help you with? field.
  5. Select Continue.
  6. Click Message an agent or Get a callback.
