Assisted Payroll processing

I have been most tolerant with the Assisted Payroll support.  Like most things, it all depends on who you have the privilege, or frustration, to talk to.

I do our payroll every two weeks.  I choose process scheduled payroll and go from there.  I HAVE NEVER CHANGED the scheduled pay date.  For a holiday falls on a Thurs and/or Friday, I process payroll on Tuesday afternoon after all employees have clocked out.  I submit and my bank is debited for the payroll amount.  Direct deposits are in the employee's bank(s) the next day.  I print the paper checks.  Never really had a problem with payroll being process.

I did payroll this past Tuesday, Dec 21, in the late afternoon so it could be processed early since Dec. 24 is considered a holiday by the banks.  Emplolyees' received emails from Intuit to view their pay stub.  On Wed, no direct deposits, no bank debit.  On Thurs, no direct deposits, no bank debit.  I called to find out why my payroll had not been processed since tomorrow was a holiday.  I was told the check date was Dec. 24, and that I should have changed the check date.  Well, I have never done it in the past for early payroll processing (doing it thru Intuit for over 2 years).  I was told payroll would be processed at 5:00 Thurs. Dec. 23.  NOT AN ACCEPTABLE ANSWER.  I insisted on an answer as to what happened, why it wasn't processed once it was received, and why no one had any answers....except for the scripted answer that they kept repeating...the check date.  I told Intuit I wanted my payroll processed NOW.  I asked for a supervisor to call me back.  I was called back.  Was it a supervisor?  I don't know and don't trust the fact that it was.  I have never been so frustrated with a payroll as I am right now.  Merry Christmas to my company and  'paycheckless' employees.

Assisted Payroll processing

Hello there, joanpm.

This isn’t the kind of experience I want for you, especially when using the Payroll feature. Let me help and guide you on the right path to fix your direct deposit concern.

I can see how important for your employees to receive their direct deposit on time. In situations like this, I still recommend contacting us again. One of our specialists will review the case notes from your previous call. Then explain in detail the cause why your employees didn’t receive their paychecks.

Follow these steps on how to get in touch with them. Here’s how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks and press the Help icon at the top menu bar to select QuickBooks Desktop Help F1.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the window and click the Contact us link.
  3. In the Contact Us screen opens, go to the Tell us more about your question section to enter the issue of your payroll concern.
  4. Click the Search menu and choose the support options: Call us to speak with an agent or Message Us to chat with a payroll specialist.

Check the following article to learn more about our support hours and types for each payroll version: Contact Payroll Support.

Also, this reference contains resources that will guide you on how to easily manage payroll tasks in QuickBooks: Self-help articles. From there, you’ll see topics about account management, taxes, running reports, processing payroll, etc.

Feel free to post a comment below if you have other payroll concerns or questions about direct deposit. I’ll get back to help and make sure this is taken care of for you. Have a good one.

Assisted Payroll processing

Not sure why you couldn't get a clear answer to this, as it's an easy one.

Your DD didn't happen the day before the holiday because your checks were dated on the holiday.  DD orders are never sent to be posted before the paycheck date, though sometimes they do arrive a day early (it's up to the receiving bank.)  This is true even if you send the payroll early.

For example, if you date your paychecks on a Saturday or Sunday and send them a week early (you can send up to 90 days early, I think), the ACH/DD orders will not be sent to post on Friday, before the check date. Instead they will post on the following Monday, the next available banking day (unless Monday is a holiday, and then it'll be Tuesday.)

The DD were in banks on Dec. 24, a holiday.  I have learned a valuable lesson that if I want employee's paid early, even if payroll falls on a holiday, I better check the DD scheduled payroll date and change it accordingly.

In the past, I have never had a problem with this.  As mentioned, I have never changed the scheduled payroll date when submitting payroll early due to a holiday, and deposits were in the bank the day after I submitted payroll, or at least prior to the holiday.

In the future, I will be checking the scheduled payroll date when this situation occurs again.

Thank you.
