Bookkeeper account associated with payroll history in QuickBooks Desktop

I am no longer able to access my payroll or employee history in QB desktop.  Previously we had been using a bookkeeper for that service, but she had associated the payroll service with her email address and information.  She is no longer in business, so I'm not sure how to go about updating the account/email associated with the payroll history so I can access that information now.  I am able to run reports against the data, but trying to load Employee Center or Payroll Center fails with the following message:


You must download and install the latest payroll update before you can process payroll forms.


I tried checking & her information is not listed in my current Authorized Users list either.  I'm not sure what needs to be updated so that I can resolve this to have access to that history again.


When I click OK to that message, the process eventually times out with an unrecoverable error.

Hi there, @dianep.


Allow me to share some details about your payroll service in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).


You can log in to CAMPs (Customer Account Management Portal) to manage your Intuit account if you are the owner of the QBDT License. Then, purchase a Service Key for Payroll to remove the Accountant/ Bookkeeper's service from your payroll.


However, if you're using the service key of your bookkeeper, you need to purchase a QBDT License to make sure that your she is completely not associated with your QBDT company.


Here's how to log in to CAMPs:


  1. Go to
  2. Log in with your Intuit Account info. This can be different from what you use to sign in to your company file.
  3. Choose QuickBooks Desktop to go to CAMPs.
