Business Validation Error: This employee cannot be deleted because it is used in recurring template How do I delete this employee

I'm here to help you with deleting your employee, Mr Bentley.

QuickBooks Online will prompt this error message if we try to delete an employee tied to a recurring template. To successfully delete it, we'll have to delete the recurring template first before the employee. I'll guide you how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Recurring Transactions.
  3. Locate the appropriate recurring template you want to delete.
  4. Under the Action column, select the Edit drop-down.
  5. Hit Delete.

You can follow the steps below in deleting the employee:

  1. Select Workers.
  2. Click the Employees tab.
  3. Choose the employee's name( you can select All employees from the drop-down menu if the employee is not on the list).
  4. Click the Edit (pencil) icon from the Employment section.
  5. From the Status drop-down, select Terminated.
  6. Select Done to complete the process.

To view the list off the inactive employees, we can pull up the Employee Details report then select Inactive Employees from the Employee drop-down menu.

If you want to reactivate that employee in the future, you can visit this link that will help you in doing it: Add, edit, deactivate, and reactivate an employee.
