Calculating Hourly pay correctly

When we enter the hours worked of your employee in the paycheck, we'll have to take note that we need to convert first the minutes into decimal. This way, Intuit Online Payroll will be able to calculate the pay accurately.

Example: One of your employees worked for 10 hours and 30 minutes and has an hourly rate of $10. Instead of directly entering 10.30 in the Hours field, we'll have to convert first the 30 minutes into decimal which is .50. Then, we can now enter 10.50 for the total hours. By doing this process, the program would yield $105 for the total pay.

Think of the time from 1 to 100  instead of 1 to 60 minutes.  15 minutes is .25, 30 min is .50, 45 min is .75.  Then break down odd minutes in between.  If you enter 30 minutes it is akin to them working like 20 minutes not half an hour.

I find it incredibly hard to conceive that being the leader in accounting and payroll that Intuit Quickbooks is that we can not toggle the decimal calculation to an hourly calculation with the click of a button.  I just want to make sure that i can not "set" QB to understand that i would like the calculation to read minutes rather than having to print up a conversion sheet and manually covert every employees time.  

exactly how is it that Intuit doesn't have a way to calculate this. I have been paying my staff way too little or too much for the last 5 years!!!

While the option to calculate the hours per minute calculated in every paycheck is not available, it's best to share your request directly with our product developers. Therefore, let me walk you through the steps on how you can send feedback:

3. Enter a few words describing how you wanted to create a paycheck with every minute calculated not with a decimal.
4. Click Next.

It is UNBELIEVABLE that Quick Books Online can not do the calculation of minutes to decimal!  I feel sorry for all those Quickbook Desktop users that will lose this functionality when they are forced to go to Quickbooks Online.  Yesterday I called Customer Support and was given a wrong answer when I asked if we input hourly employee time as hours and minutes (as our timesheets show), the customer service rep said yes, input hours and minutes.  Called back today to verify after reviewing information on the Community and was told no.  We have to manually convert all employee time every two weeks from minutes to decimals before we input into Quickbooks Payroll.  Then I asked if we there were any QB products that do this conversion automatically and no one knew the answer.  UNBELIEVABLE.
