Can anyone offer suggestions as to why QuickBooks Online Payroll Core is not showing me my federal payroll taxes due for January 2020?

I can certainly help, @guyjeanbraun.

I need to gather some additional information. Did you pay any employees during January? If you did, was the pay date in February?

I'll be waiting for your reply. Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Can anyone offer suggestions as to why QuickBooks Online Payroll Core is not showing me my federal payroll taxes due for January 2020?

Joshua,

Thank you for the reply.  I did pay employees in January with January paydates.  I figured out why QB Core Payroll was showing "No Taxes Due".....I had selected the wrong Federal payment schedule in the set-up (I selected quarterly 941 payments rather than monthly), so I corrected that error on my part.  Then QB Core Payroll calculated the federal payroll taxes due in February for my January payroll.....now I have a "new issue"....The Core Payroll product does not support e-file / e-payment services; however, the program is displaying that it will pay the taxes electronically and I do not have a payroll tax worksheet generated by QB Core Payroll to use to make the payment myself via the IRS EFTPS website.  I linked the Core Payroll product to my payroll bank account when I initially set up the program last month because I was told by a QB Helpdesk Chat employee that that was necessary and that I would still be able to make the payments myself via QB generated worksheets for use with the EFTPS IRS service (which I have successfully set up).  What should I do to configure the Core Payroll product to have it generate the federal (as well as State) payroll tax sheets (and 941 forms each quarter) so that I can make the payments myself?

Joshua R,

Well.......it appears as though I did not carefully read the features provided by Payroll Core......the on-line description DOES list that payroll tax forms and payroll tax payments ARE automated..................and I received the following e-mail from QB today,

"Hi, Guy Brauning:
QuickBooks Online Payroll Core has completed your enrollment in the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) and federal electronic filing for Martha V Brauning.
Now that your enrollment is complete, we'll take care of your federal taxes and filings. No more worrying about due dates. We'll send you email reminders when your taxes are due. You're all set!
Congratulations on the activation of e-pay and e-file!"

...............so I assume the January payroll tax payment will be completed by QB automatically via my IRS EFTPS account..............my concern now is that I never entered my EFTPS account PIN or Password into QB Core Payroll...........so how does QB Core Payroll access my EFTPS account without those log-in credentials?   Also, how are the State payroll tax payments and forms handled by Core Payroll, automatically via my State of MD b-file account or manually paid / filed by me based on QB Payroll generated worksheets and forms?

Thanks,

 Guy

Hi guyjeanbraun,

You'll want to log in to your EFTPS account and click Make a payment to pay your taxes. Then, manually record tax payment in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Here's how:

  1. Click Taxes on the left panel, then select Payroll Tax.
  2. On the Payroll Tax Center page, click Pay Taxes.
  3. Next to the payment, you want to pay, select Record Payment.
  4. On the approve payment screen, click Record Payment to record the payment when the payment was made outside the system.

Here's an article for more information about paying payroll taxes: Pay Payroll Taxes Electronically or Manually.

Also, make sure to correctly set up federal and state information so you'll be able to access your payroll tax worksheet.
