Can I add a mileage category to my mileage tracker?
Right now, adding a category for your non-profit organization or 503c work isn't possible in QuickBooks Online (QBO). The closest alternative is you can set up a supplier profile for your employee and add an expense account to track the mileage. Let me walk you through how.
To set up a supplier profile for your employee:
Click Expenses on the left pane.
Click New supplier.
Enter your employee's info. Give your employee's supplier account a unique display name.
This supplier profile is separate from the regular employee profile used for payroll and is only for mileage tracking.
Then, create an expense account for mileage.
Click the Gear icon, then select Chart of Accounts.
Create a new expense account. From the Account Type drop-down menu, select Expenses. From the Detail Type drop-down menu, select Auto or Travel.
Give the account a unique name that's easy to identify.
