Can I have my pre-tax HSA deduction directly deposited into my HSA checking account?

I can easily set up a deduction for my HSA.  However, I would like that money to automatically be deposited into the employee's HSA checking account.  It should be simple...

Automatic deposit for HSA contributions isn't supported in QuickBooks Online yet. You'll want to manually process it on the employee's behalf. 

Though, it would be convenient to be able to do this. I'd recommend sending this idea to our developers by clicking on the Gear icon, and then selecting Feedback. Your input would help us with the product development. 

If you create a new liability account (in this case, the employee's checking account for easier tracking) for the HSA deductions, you can change the posting account by going to your Payroll Settings. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon, and then select Payroll Settings.
  2. Click Accounting under Preferences
  3. Change the HSA posting accounts under Other Liability & Asset Accounts
  4. Once done, click OK.
