Can QBO automatically e-file and e-pay payroll taxes without my individually authorizing them?

A warm welcome to the Community, dick6.

Yes, QuickBooks Online (QBO) automatically e-file and e-pay  without authorizing them individually. As long as you have the FULL-SERVICE, CORE, ELITEand PREMIUM type of payroll, Intuit sends and files them on your behalf.

Here are the payroll forms and taxes we submit for you:

  • Forms 940 and 941.
  • Employee Wage and Tax Statement Form W-2 and W-3.
  • For Intuit Online Payroll Full Service Only: Forms 1099-MISC and Form 1096.

On the other hand, if you have the ENHANCED type of payroll, you need to file/pay and submit your taxes.

For your reference, you can visit this article: Tax payments and forms Intuit payroll submits for you. It contains more details on what other taxes are paid on your behalf as well as when to access copies of the filed forms in QuickBooks.

Additionally, the following write-up provides steps on how to file your federal forms in QuickBooks Online: File quarterly tax forms. Also, you'll find more information regarding filing due dates as well as ways on how to file them.

It'll be always my pleasure to help if you have any other forms, filing and paying related concerns, or anything in QuickBooks. Just keep me posted in the comment section down below and I'll get back to you. Have a good one!
