can't enter company tax info for QBO payroll

I'm trying to setup my client's QBO for payroll. I'm in the part that tells me to fill in the tax info - it won't let me get past the general company info - name, address, company type.  Every time I click NEXT I get this error:

Something went wrong, and we couldn't save your changes. Give us a minute and try again.

My client gave me access as QuickBooks Companies (so I think as an employee) and not accountant's access.  Does this have something to do with it?

can't enter company tax info for QBO payroll

Hi there, merelynne. Thanks for reaching out to the Community.

I reviewed our ongoing/solved investigations and can confirm there's currently no records of a "Something went wrong, and we couldn't save your changes. Give us a minute and try again." error message appearing when setting up payroll services.

If you're an accountant, yes, your client would want to invite you as that type of user. Doing so would provide an account with the same access rights as an admin. This enables both sides to work together seamlessly.

Here's how it's done:
1. They'll need to sign in as a master admin, use their Gear () icon, then go to Manage users.
2. Open the Accounting firms tab.
3. Click Invite.
4. Enter their accountant's information and select Save.

I've also included a visual guide:

After an invitation has been sent, the recipient will receive steps for how to connect both accounts. If QuickBooks Online Accountant isn't already being used, there's also details about signing up.

In the event you find out you're already set up properly, it's possible this problem could be caused by temporary internet files. Browsers store these records, but they can sometimes cause display issues on certain web pages. You can use the detailed steps in our following resource to see if that's what's happening: Clear cache & cookies to fix issues

If this problem continues after trying the recommended troubleshooting, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care Team. They can pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

You can reach them while signed in:
1. Click the Help (?) icon.
2. Choose Contact Us.
3. Enter a description of your situation in the What can we help you with? field, then hit Let's talk.
4. You'll be presented with a few options for connecting with Intuit. Select Start messaging or Get a call.

Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.

If there's any other questions, I'll be here to help. Have an awesome Friday!
