Can you help me with the w2's

Hey there, @debrazimmerman6.

 

I'm happy to assist you with filing and printing out your W-2s.

 

To file your W-2s in QuickBooks Desktop, you can create the form to submit to your state. Doing this will allow you to E-file your W-2s as well. Here's how:

  1. Select Employees, then Payroll Tax Forms & W-2s, then create State W-2 E-file.
  2. On the Welcome window, choose Continue. (Note: Verify if the Tax Year you are filing for is available.)
  3. In the QuickBooks Payroll state W-2 Filing window, click Continue.
  4. Next to Select State, pick the state from the drop-down menu. Then press Get QuickBooks Data.
  5. On the QuickBooks Payroll State W-2 filing - Updated window, select OK.
  6. Correct any errors or add missing information into the file.
  7. Choose the Add-Ins tab to locate the QuickBooks Payroll State W-2 drop-down menu. Hit Start Interview.
  8. Put a checkmark to I understand that I must review my data and answer the following questions. Then select Next.
  9. Note the file name and location. Press Next.
  10. Answer the questions in the interview. And verify any auto-populated information. Hit Next until you reach the End of Interview
  11. Click Create W-2 File.
  12. On the State W-2 File Created window, select OK.
  13. When the Save Workbook window opens, pick Yes to save the Excel workbook for your records.

Printing your W-2s in QuickBooks Desktop account takes just a few clicks:

  1. Access your Payroll Tax Center.
  2. Select the W-2s tab.
  3. In the Year drop-down menu, choose the year you want to print.
  4. Pick the Employees you want to print (click the checkbox next to Employees for all)
  5. Press the Open/Save Selected button. When the Print Instructions window opens, select one of these reasons:
  • I'm printing original employee W-2s if you are going to give the W-2 to the employee for the first time.
  • I'm printing replacement employee W-2s for lost or damaged W-2s.
  • I'm printing W-2s for my records if this a copy for your company records.

      6. Go to the File menu and click Print.

 

It's that easy! Now you've filed and printed your W-2s.

Can you help me with the w2's

when I select employees, payroll forms, create, an excel window is opened but the fields are blank.  Also there is not a "Welcome window" or a "continue" option.

Thanks for sharing detailed information on your concern. Let's first verify if your payroll tax table is updated to make sure you're able to create a W-2 successfully in QuickBooks. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Employees menuthen select Get Payroll Updates. 
  2. Check the version of the tax table you have.
  3. The first line in the Get Payroll Updates window, "You are using tax table version: #####," lists the tax table version. 
  4. Click the Payroll Update Info to see summary information and its changes.

 

If it isn't updated, follow the steps to download the latest payroll tax table. Check out: Get the latest payroll tax table update. You can also update the payroll tax table automatically by turning on the automatic updates in QuickBooks.

 

Once everything is updated, you're now able to see the Welcome window with its instruction and lets you continue creating W-2.
