Can you overwrite the qualified sick leave credit on the 941?

I'm here to guide you in overwriting the qualified sick leave credit in QuickBooks Desktop, @mastagner. This way, you'll be able to generate the correct amounts in your 941.

Even if you've issued paychecks prior to setting up the National Paid Leave FMLA, QuickBooks made it easy for you to correct your 941 information. Just perform the following:

  1. Update QuickBooks Desktop to its latest release (R7).
  2. Download the latest payroll tax table (22013).

After the processes above, the system will automatically overwrite your 941 information.

There are new lines in your Form 941. One of them is the Line 5a (i) Qualified sick leave wagesQuickBooks is updated to correctly fill out those required lines by the IRS. To learn more about how the system populates your Form 941, kindly refer to this article: How QuickBooks Populates The 941. It also contains related articles like what each line means for 941, 940, and W-2 to name a few.

Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help. Take care always.

Can you overwrite the qualified sick leave credit on the 941?

Form 941 is not working even with payroll updates.  In calculating Worksheet 1 manually, one calculates the total qualified sick leave wages plus the related Medicare taxes to be the REFUNDABLE portion of credit for qualified sick leave which is to be entered on Form 941, Part 1, Line 13c but there is no ability to put a number on that line, even with an override.

Hi PoppyCPA,

Thanks for joining the thread, and thanks for doing a payroll update.

The data on the report of form is coming from your payroll transactions and adjustments. Therefore, if you want to make changes or corrections, it's should be via liability adjustments. However, for this case, I would recommend reaching out to the Support team, so they can start a screen-sharing session and guide you through the process. Please check this out: Contact Payroll Support.
