Can you suggest how to resolve the following? I ran my first bonus payroll. Money was withdrawn from my business, and it was not deposited into my personal account.

Yes, I know ways to resolve your payroll direct deposit issue in QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP), mike537. I'll walk you through the complete steps in detail below.

There are two common reasons why direct deposit payments may not have been received by you or your employee:

  • The account or routing number is incorrect.
  • The account is for another employee.

When the account or routing number is incorrect, you can contact the receiving bank to check whether it exists or not.

  • If it’s a Live Account (it deposited successfully), you can request a reversal within 5 business days from the pay date (counting the pay date as the first day). However, please note that this does not guarantee the funds will be recovered. While waiting for the reversal to be completed, issue a regular check to yourself. Once the reversal result is available, make sure to update your bank account information.

  • If the account Doesn't Exist or Closed, and it was confirmed that the deposit is rejected, do the following:
  1. Void the paycheck.
  2. Update your bank account.
  3. Recreate the paycheck and send a new direct deposit.

On the other hand, if the account is owned by another employee, you have two options to recover the funds. For the complete details, please see Scenario 2 in this article: Handle a direct deposit paycheck that was not received by an employee.

Moreover, you can create a summary report if you wish to view your employees' totals and other payroll-related data. To guide you through the process, check out this article: Create a payroll summary report in QuickBooks.

Additionally, if you're looking to elevate your payroll processing, I highly recommend exploring QuickBooks Payroll. With its robust time-tracking features and the speed of faster direct deposits, you may find these enhancements can truly transform how your business operates.

With this information, I’m confident you're now able to settle your direct deposit transaction. If you have any additional questions or further clarification about the process, please don’t hesitate to click the Reply button. I’m always here to assist!
