Change company contribution for employee

Hello, I recently refunded an employee for over-deducted health insurance. When I did this I didn't notice that the employer portion should have also been reversed. Therefore, instead of crediting the company portion of heath insurance it added to it, which has overstated the total company paid portion for this one employee. How do I correct this? I don't want to just do a liability adjustment because that only affects the total liability, NOT the amount reported for the individual employee. Thank you

Let's get this straightened out and help you correct the company contribution.

 

Your concern about changing company contributions for employees can be fixed by making payroll adjustments. I understand that you don't want to do adjustment, however, this is the only way to correct this situation. When you do this, make sure to select the correct accounts affected.

  1. Go to Employees and choose Payroll Taxes and Liabilities.
  2. Click Adjust Payroll Liabilities.
  3. You can see the Company and Employee option under Adjustment is for when making adjustments. Choose Employee.
  4. Select the specific employee that you need to make adjustments to.
  5. Enter the Item name, Amount, and the correct accounts affected.
  6. Click OK.

In case you need to manage your payroll, you can run and customize reports in the program. Just go to Reports from the top menu and select Employees and Payroll.
