Change payroll direct deposit to check

We will need to write paychecks for just one week instead of doing direct deposit.  What is my best option for doing this?  Do I go into each employee and uncheck the direct deposit and then write a check, then change it back for next week?

You're right, Stucker.

 

When you create the paychecks, you'll just have to uncheck the Use Direct Deposit box, then create them as regular ones.

 

Here's how:

  1. Click the Employees menu, then choose Payroll Center.
  2. Go to the Pay Employees tab.
  3. Click Start Unscheduled Payroll or Start Scheduled Payroll.
  4. Under CHECK OPTIONS, choose Handwrite & Assign check numbers.
  5. Choose the employees, then click Open Paycheck Detail.
  6. Uncheck the Use Direct Deposit box.
  7. Click Save & Next or Save & Close.
  8. Click Continue, then click Create Paychecks.

Question -- why choose "Handwrite checks" rather than "print on chest stock?"  Does that make a difference in this case?

Thanks for getting back to us. Allow me to help and provide some additional information about the check options when creating a regular paycheck.

 

QuickBooks will determine the last paycheck transactions you've created. When selecting the Print paychecks on check stock option, it will automatically assign a check # for the next paycheck. 

 

Meanwhile, if you want to manually change the Check # for the paychecks you'll need to select the Handwrite & Assign check numbers option.
