Payroll has been submitted for direct deposit, but the holiday is delaying the deposit 3 days. Can I change to paper checks once the payroll has already been submitted?

Hello there, Shirtguy,


I can help you with your Direct Deposit payroll.


If your payday falls on a Friday after Thanksgiving Day, payroll must be submitted one day earlier than usual (Tuesday). This way, Intuit can debit the amount by Wednesday for Friday posting, still following the 2-banking day rule.


In your case, it looks like you have sent the payroll on Wednesday, which will post the amount on your employees account on Monday the following week. You may check out this article to know more about how Thanksgiving Day will affect your payroll run:


Currently, we're unable to cancel or stop a Direct Deposit that's already processed. Here are several options you can try: 

  • Wait until the amount is deposited to your employee's account.
  • Process a paper check, and do an internal agreement with the employee to return the Direct Deposit.
