Child Support Garnishment

One employee's child support garnishment got deducted from another employee's paycheck in error and now I can't figure out how to delete said payment from the pay payroll liabilities window. I had gone and changed the info on it to the correct info, printed a check and sent it but the incorrect one is still there showing it needs to be paid for the incorrect employee. The following week I just gave a reimbursement to the employee on his paycheck of the difference between what it should have been and what was deducted that week as his was less then the other employee.  God this is hard to explain.  So this week I corrected the issue (found that said employee had accidentally been set up with the other employees deduct in their employee profile) but now his garnishment after deducting it does not show up in the pay payroll liabilities window. UGH...help!

Child Support Garnishment

Hi there, @thedemogoddess.

I appreciate the details and the steps you've taken. I can help you delete the wrong Child Support Garnishment liability.

You will have to create a negative liability adjustment for the wrong employee. I'll show you how:

  1. Click Employees.
  2. Choose Payroll Taxes and Liabilities.
  3. Select Liability Adjustment.
  4. Choose the Employee radio-button.
  5. Enter the employee name.
  6. Select the Garnishment item.
  7. Enter the negative amount.
  8. Click OK.

That should remove the liability, thedemogoddess.
