Discontinued Payroll W-2

I have been trying unsuccessfully to obtain my 2019 W-2 from the May 2019 discontinued payroll service for pre-2017 Desktop QB versions.  I've updated, restarted, etc. but it will only allow me to push a W-2 with a 2018 after ignoring errors.  I utilized the payroll service until that date and have wages that I need to report via W-2 but for 2019.  How to I obtain this?

Thank you.

Discontinued Payroll W-2

Hi there, AC3Consult.

To access the W-2 file of your employee in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, you can start exporting it to worksheet. Let me show you how.

  1. Select the Employees menu, and select Payroll Tax Forms and W-2s.
  2. Choose Tax Form Worksheets in Excel.
  3. When the Excel file opens, click the Enable Content button.
  4. Click on the Annual W-2/W-3 option under Which worksheet you want to create?.
  5. Choose the Date, and click the Create Report button.

After you have your report, you can refer to the worksheet to file the W-2 form manually. Also, I added this link to guide you through the process: Print W-2 and W-3 forms.

Let me know if you need further assistance. I'll be here to help. Take care.

Discontinued Payroll W-2

Hello, I used Quickbooks Desktop Payroll until they discontinued the service in the Spring of 2023.  I have no idea whether they filed my W-2/W-3 related information to the IRS.  How can I find this out? My employees did not get W-2's so that is not a good sign.

Thanks,

Ben

Discontinued Payroll W-2

Let me give you some details about how discontinued payroll works, bquinn1.

Once QuickBooks Desktop is discontinued, you won't have access to live technical support which includes QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, QuickBooks Desktop Payments, and online bank feeds. Aside from that discontinued versions won't receive the latest critical security patches and updates.

When filing W-2/W-3 forms, it is dependent on your payroll subscription. If you're using Assisted Payroll, we file the payroll forms for you. However, if you're using Basic, Standard, or Enhanced Payroll, you'll have to file your Federal and state W-2s and W-3s manually.

With this, since we're unable to pull up your account, I suggest reaching out to our payroll support team so they can double-check if you're forms were filed previously and assist you on how you can fix them if the forms were not filed.

Furthermore, you can learn how to import bank transactions, accountant's changes, general journal entries, and batch transactions, I've added this article for your reference: Import and Export Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Post a comment below if you need further assistance with W2 or any about payroll forms. Remember, we're always here to help you any time of the day.
