E-Filings not appearing on the E-Filings tab in the Filings History

I recently upgraded my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I also upgraded from QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2019 to QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020. Since I upgraded I can no longer check my e-filings statuses or print the audit trail because I am not getting entries in the E-Filings tab. The e-filing forms are getting saved to my local computer and I can see them in the Saved Filings tab. I am also receiving the e-filing confirmation emails from Intuit. How do I get the e-filings to appear again in the E-Filings tab?

Hello there, @CSWood.

You can check your audit trail to see the status of your payroll tax form In QuickBooks Desktop.

Here's how:

  1. Click Employees located at the top, and select Payroll Center.
  2. From the Payroll Center, click the Pay Liabilities tab.
  3. Under the Payment History section, select the E-Payments tab.
  4. Select the View link in the Audit Trail column for more details.
  5. In the Filing History section, click the E-Filings tab.
  6. Select the View link in the Audit Trail column for more details.

E-Filings not appearing on the E-Filings tab in the Filings History

Thank you for the reply Grace.

I can see the audit trail for my E-Payments in the 'E-Payments' tab on the Pay Liabilities tab.

My issue is with the audit trail for my state and federal 941 forms (not payments) in the 'E-Filings' tab on the File Forms tab. There are rows in the table for previous e-filings including my 4th quarter 2019 forms (both state and federal 941) which I e-filed in January 2020. However, since I upgrade my computer to WIN 10 and QuickBooks 2020 I did not get any rows in this table for my 1st quarter 2020 forms that I e-filed this month.

I'd like to help you get this fixed, CSWood.

Let's get your QuickBooks Desktop updated to the latest release. Here's an article for the instructions: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

After restarting your computer, open the QuickBooks Desktop program and go to your audit trail. Check to see if state and federal 941 forms are available.

If the information is not showing up, then you can do the Verify and Rebuild Data instructions. This is to very if the issue is with the company file. You can follow the steps here: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Otherwise, contact our Customer Care Team for further assistance. Before doing so, please check our support hours here. Then, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Help > QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. In the Have a Question window, click the Contact Us link at the bottom.
  3. From the Contact Us page, select any topics.
  4. Under Here's how to connect with a QuickBooks expert section, click the Get Phone Number or Start a Message button.

Please let us know how it goes or if you have any other questions or concerns. Take care.

E-Filings not appearing on the E-Filings tab in the Filings History

Grace,

I am having the same problem as CS Wood did back in 2020.  I've filed all the year end payroll tax forms for 2021, received confirmations, received accepted emails, but the e-filings are not showing up in the E-filing history tab.  WHY?

Allow me to share some information about e-filings not showing in the history tab, @pbhcpa.

You need to update your payroll tax tables and QuickBooks software to the latest release version. It ensures that the program displays the latest features and downloads patches to resolve errors and incorrect payroll information.

  1. Go to the Employees menu.
  2. Choose to Get Payroll Updates.
  3. Tick the Download Entire Update checkbox.
  4. Hit Download Latest Update.
    • A window appears when the download is complete.

Once completed, let's restart QuickBooks to ensure that all components are updated. Now, you can update your QuickBooks software. Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Choose the Help menu.
  3. Select Update QuickBooks.
  4. From the Update Now tab, click the Get Updates button.

You can also visit this link to see the current changes with our payroll service: Latest payroll news and updates.

E-Filings not appearing on the E-Filings tab in the Filings History

Ethel_A,

Thank you but I've done all of that and more than once.  The e-filings still do not show in the E-filings tab.  The forms show in the Saved Filings tab and the Tax Form History folder.  Previous submissions (prior quarters) show in the E-filings tab, just not the 2021 year end forms - 941, 940, Florida RT-6, and W-3 and W-2s.  I have copies of the confirmations received as I submitted them and copies of the accepted e-mails.  They just don't show up in the E-filings tab.  Very strange.  I've tried Verify and Re-build - no problems found.

Hi pbhcpa!

Thanks for the reply. Let me further assist you with the e-filed forms.

It's great that you updated your QuickBooks Desktop, the tax table, and run the rebuild tool. However, it's best to reach out to our Support Team so they can investigate it since this behavior persists.

  1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter "E-filed forms", select Let's talk and then choose a way to connect.

E-Filings not appearing on the E-Filings tab in the Filings History

Alex V,

Thanks for the suggestion for reaching out to Intuit.  I was able to solve my issue and it was an operator error and not a QuickBooks error (LOL).  However, I wanted to let you know that someone replied to my post with a phone number to call Intuit (that post has now been removed - I assume by whomever posted it).  The phone number was [Removed].  I was suspicious from the beginning because they did not answer as Intuit help nor did I have to go through prompts as I usually do when calling Intuit.  We discussed my issue and eventually the "support person" asked if he could log on to my computer to see what I was seeing.  At that point, I told him I would have to call back as I was getting another call.  I believe this was someone posing as Intuit help and attempting to gain access to my computer.  I thought it best to let Intuit know and since you appear to be an employee, I have reached out to you.  If I should report this to a different department, please let me know.  Or if that was a valid help phone number, let me know as well.  Thanks - Pam Hathaway
