Employee Withholdings

I have an employee that lives in Georgia and works in North Carolina at the moment. We are a business based in Texas.

He is temporarily in NC at the moment but he gets moved around depending on the volume of work in any given state.

Can someone help with how we should withhold from his paycheck or what the requirement would be in his case?

Re: Employee Withholdings

Hi there, @Anonymous.

Welcome to the Community. I'd be glad to help share some information about determining your withholding responsibilities.

There are instances that the employee may be subject to income tax in different states. In some cases, there are reciprocal agreements between states that would require to only pay income tax to one state. To ensure what income taxes you may be subject to, I'd recommend contacting your state agency first.

To know more about multi-state withholding responsibilities, you can refer to this helpful article: Multi-State withholding responsibilities.
