Join nowHello everyone,
I recently purchased the QB Enhanced payroll for Accountants which allows me to add up to 50 EIN's to our payroll subscription.
A couple of our clients we do the quarterly paychecks and associated quarterly reporting through quickbooks. For a couple of new clients we plan to go to the clients place of business and complete paychecks and filing there per their request.
My question is how do I activate my companies payroll subscription on their Quickbooks when I do not have my computer with my companies Quickbooks there? Do they have to come to our office so I can use my computer to do their payroll reporting? We are in the service industry... I can't imagine making the client come to our office with a copy of their Quickbooks is necessary? I should be able to use my quickbooks payroll subscription on their Quickbooks to complete the filing correct?
Is there any other way to activate our service key on a clients QB at their place of business without having to have them bring me their QB file and complete at our office?
Thanks!
Marc

Hi Marc,
I'd be happy to help you set up your client's payroll on their own computer.
The following article has step-by-step instructions on how to do this on your own computer with QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll for Accountants: https://community.intuit.com/articles/1436477. Steps one and two will be slightly different if you're going to their office and adding the payroll to their QuickBooks, though. Once you go to Employees > My Payroll Service, you'll see the option to Manage Service Key and then you can click Add. In order to obtain this service key, you can call the QuickBooks Payroll support number, provide the client's EIN, and they'll send it to you: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
Please feel free to reach back out if you have any further questions about this process.

Thanks AliciaRoy,
Will the service key be my service key or is it a newly generated service key made only for the client after providing their EIN? I have my service key written down and I know it. Do I need to call Intuit to have them add the EIN for the client first or can I just plug in the service key and be ready to go?
Thanks again!
My pleasure!
If you call in, you'll provide support with the client's EIN and then they'll provide you with the service key that you enter in step 3.
