error 12029.

While attempting to do a payroll update I keep getting an error 12029.  QB cannot connect to server so update not completed successfully.  I have verified  internet connection and turned off security software to no avail.

QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) sometimes can't connect or use your computer's internet connection, which causes issues when having a payroll update. The reason for this is, there might be an incorrect browser and security settings in place, or you might have anti-virus programs or firewalls that block the download and updates. To fix the issue, you may need to:


  • Test connectivity and settings
  • Review the Internet Explorer settings
  • Check security settings

If the issue persists, you may need to restart your computer and ensure your company file is in the single-user-mode, once completed, reset the QuickBooks updates and attempt to download and install the QuickBooks update.
