I'd like to use quickbooks desktop payroll and export each payroll to a .qbo or .qif file to import into quicken. is this possible? I know it's backwards but I like Quicken for my simple business, and I want to use quickbooks desktop only for the payroll.
Hello there, @beaglesd1.
In QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, you can export your payroll data into an Excel file. These reports include the following:
I know you'd want the report be exported into a .qbo or .qif file. For the meantime, what you can do is to look for a converter tool online so that you can have it imported to Quicken.

No, QB won't create either a QBO or QIF file export.
However, you can export reports to an Excel file and then use a tool like our BRC Excel to QIF Converter or our BRC Excel to OFX/QFX/QBO Converter to create those file types for import into Quicken.
I'd suggest a simple transaction detail report filtered for just one line per paycheck - the checking account row, to be used as a source for such a transfer to Quicken.
I have this problem with QuickBooks Online Payroll - we need it to export QIF format to go into Quicken.
I've been communicating directly with Chris O’Rourke at Intuit's Office of the President about having QuickBooks Online Payroll export QIF files that can be brought into Quicken. We had that capability with Intuit Online Payroll which is being retired.
If you wish to be able to export QIF Files from QuickBooks Online Payroll directly into Quicken - Intuit needs to hear from you.
Please email them at officeofthepresident at intuit.com
Thanks
